„I first discovered your article sometime last year and was surprised to read the following:

„The Beatles came in hot, then they were gone — a risk for groups, with their various egos and complications, that Swift will never have to face.“

What do you mean by „then they were gone“? You could probably say this about the Monkees, but you cannot in all earnestness say this about a group who shaped the course of pop music. May I ask if you were already alive when the Beatles were popular?  And the assumption that someone like Taylor Swift could probably be „bigger than the Beatles“ is nothing but grotesque. I mean, who will talk about Taylor Swift in 60 years from now? There you go. Musically, her contribution to pop music is practically non-existing. She’s all glitter and monumental show, but no substance. And it appears to me also that she’s basically only in it for the money, that she’s cold and predicting. „Crunching the numbers“, as you put it doesn’t do the Beatles justice. To me, they are still number one. That Taylor Swift could become so big is only due to the fact that young people just don’t know any better. 60 years ago, someone like her wouldn’t have been possible at all. The standards were much higher, then. I know because I grew up during the 1960’s; when „Sgt. Pepper“ came out, I was ten. I just watched a YouTube video of Joni Mitchell’s, and she (or John Lennon) would tear Taylor Swift apart.
